Stop, Turn Around, Remember

by Rita Macdonald

Every now and then God allows me to just stop. Today, I stopped. I stood outside with someone I had known only for five minutes, enjoyed the fresh air of what I hope was our first day of spring, and I recalled the story of how my sons came to accept Christ.

Amazing. On the same day. At the same time. That, my friends, is a miracle.

Maybe more often than every now and then, I need to just stop. Turn around. Remember.

Looking into the future can be so scary. It’s scary for me right now. I actually spoke that out loud today on a very long drive when we saw a road sign that read, “Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.” Looking forward, my future has never looked so unsure. I am a little bit scared sometimes. But getting to share what God has done in my life and family in the past sheds so much hope on the future.

I really enjoyed stopping today, remembering, and allowing Him to refresh my soul. What a sweet day it was 😉

“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” Psalm 77:11

Rita, thank you so much for sharing this post. I’m not sure how I ended up reading your blog but I’m so glad I did. My future seems so uncertain at times and I so relate to what you are saying. Keep writing, there are people that need to hear your heart. It has touched mine.

Hello, I’m Rita.

I am a very imperfect follower of Jesus. Much of my journey in learning to follow Christ – as a single mother and now as an empty nester – has taken place at my kitchen table. I invite you to pull up a chair, enjoy the stories, maybe even collect a recipe or two!
